Christopher Morris was named Director of Jacksonville National Cemetery effective January
31, 2022. He is responsible for all administrative, maintenance, and burial operations at the
facility. He also oversees St. Augustine National Cemetery in St. Augustine, Florida.
Prior to this position, Mr. Morris served as the Chief of Interment Operations of Arlington
National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia where he led a team of 64 personnel from June
2021. He also served as Director of the Salisbury National Cemetery Complex in Salisbury,
North Carolina where he oversaw Salisbury Historic/Annex, Raleigh, New Bern and
Wilmington National Cemeteries in North Carolina and Danville National Cemetery in
Virginia from June 2020, Director of Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan
from October 2018 where his team earned the Organizational Excellence Award, and as
Assistant Director of Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia from Aug 2017.
He is a 2017 graduate of the National Cemetery Administration's (NCA) comprehensive
year-long Cemetery Director Intern Program.
Mr. Morris’ NCA career began in 2015 at Louisiana National Cemetery as a Program
Support Assistant. In this position he also served veterans and their families at both Baton
Rouge and Port Hudson National Cemeteries. Mr. Morris was responsible for the
management of the cemetery’s budget, contracting, and administrative operations. He was
also the facility’s Veterans Outreach Manager and Minority Veterans Program Coordinator.
Before joining the NCA, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He managed personnel readiness
divisions for contingency operations and deployment related systems. His final assignment
was at Louisiana State University, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, where he
served as an Aerospace Studies Instructor/Advisor. Mr. Morris taught the introduction to air
power, advanced skills, leadership and management to over 200 cadets.
Mr. Morris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management from Park
University and an Associate of Applied Science degree in human resource management
from the Community College of the Air Force.
